Applications are open for the International Human Rights University Forum in Indonesia
International Human Rights University Forum (IHRUF) is a platform consisting of seminars, trainings and workshops as well as homestay program for youth to gather to share their ideas, knowledge and experience into a project that is able to be implemented to help the people around the venue.
IHRUF will come with the theme “Social Development in Disadvantaged Areas” which will bring you into a deep understanding of Social Development and Youth Empowerment in disadvantaged and geographically isolated areas. This theme will be brought with the combination of Education, Socio-culture, Economy and Social Welfare with an approach to Human Rights Theory.
IHRUF will choose the best two projects from the delegates which are most applicable and needed by local people on Pulau Halang (Halang Island) after the presentation session on the last day of the program.
Delegates will gain more knowledge and understanding from professional academicians and practitioners from both national and international to support their skills before going on the homestay program.
Groups that are nominated to be the best two projects will have the privilege to take part in the implementation of the projects.
When and Where
IHRUF will be held from August 25th – September 4th, 2016 in:
1. Bagansiapiapi, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province – Indonesia
A five-day academic session will be held in this city. There will be seminars, workshops and trainings from both national and international academicians and practitioners in related field. This academic session is to explore the understanding of delegates by inviting qualified speakers and facilitators to improve delegates’ skills in related field.
2. Pulau Halang, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province – Indonesia
Another five-day practical session consisting of a homestay program after the academic session will be offered to bring delegates into the real condition of a disadvantaged and geographically isolated areas. Pulau Halang is an island which is considered to be one of the areas as mentioned above.
Delegates will be chosen based on their application showing their understanding and interest in related fields. Maximum of 100 (a hundred) delegates will be chosen to participate in IHRUF with the total average of 5 – 8 delegates from the same country.
IHRUF is designed for youth from 18 – 35 years. Youth with no prior knowledge and experience in related fields is encouraged to apply.
